Needless to say, I need my neck to hold up my head. Don't know what's going to happen.
This is a story about medical malpractice. Although the case is locked, I can share a few details with you. I have a chronically broken neck. it was found incidentally when I received an MRI for an assumed stroke (I had a mini one), and then a ct scan. When my doctor received the reports, he didn't read the last line of the ct scan report, "Fracture of the c1. See image 3." The MRI and the ct scan report read exactly the same until the last line.
About a month past, when one day, concerned about having had a stroke, I read the reports all the way through. I then contacted my doctor to ask if that report said that my neck is broken? He responded defensively, "It's an outside report!"
Well, in short, I'm 62. The protocl for fixing a break in the neck of an older person can be different than it is for a young person, especially if other ailments are present, Further, the protocol for fixing a chronic break, one that has been present for a while, and has been started to form scar tissue is complicated. A hard collar won't fix the problem once it becomes chronic. I also have lupus. Where my health is headed, I don't really know. I try not to think about it.
So, my doctor and I are in Court. While an expert witness is almost always requirted in a medical malpractice case, these cases are also civil in nature. So, no one has a right to an expert witness. Medical reports are not enough by themselves. We refute expert witness testimony with expert witness testimony.
That's why I'm crowdfunding: to raise the money to hire an expert witness. I'lI have to hire a neurosurgeon expert witness.
