At PayIt2, we hear all too often from Class Reunion Organizers they don't have enough people coming to their reunion to cover the costs for a venue, food, or a DJ. They end up canceling the event, and are disappointed that they couldn’t get it together this year.

At the same time, we get where people are coming from: not everyone has the money to spend $100 on a ticket for their Class Reunion. But what if everyone simply gave what they could? Then everyone would be able to enjoy a night catching up with old friends!

The Give What You Can Class Reunion template on PayIt2 takes the pressure off your classmates and allows everyone to focus on what a reunion is truly about—reconnecting with old friends and having a good time!

Here’s how to set up your Class Reunion to follow the Give What You Can template.

1. Set your Class Reunion up as an Event on PayIt2.

2. Create a low cost item for people to register. We started with $10.

Things to Remember:

Make sure you allow the Quantity to be changed. Then people can pay here for a guest.
Make the cost of this item fixed so that your next item can be customizable.

3. Create another item for people to donate money to the reunion.

Things to Remember:

Make sure to include a default amount that suggests a number that someone might like to donate. Keep it safe with a relatively low number like our example, $25!
Select “Yes” under the “Can the cost of this item be changed by people when checking out?”. That way people can give as little, or as much as they can!

4. Keep in mind, this is just the start.

Using the Give What You Can approach can help relieve some of your classmates that are worried about the cost of your event.

How collecting money works

#1 You create a Collect Page

Create your own custom Collect Page.

Choose color themes
Upload images
Customize everything

Then share with family and friends through Facebook, Twitter, and email.

#2 An online payment is made

Friends, family, and anyone else can now make an online payment to your new Collect Page. At checkout you can even ask custom questions like "Why am I the coolest person ever?".

All major credit cards can be accepted.

#3 Stripe processes the payment

To accept payments online you must use our vetted Payment Processor. Our payment processor, Stripe, sets you up with an account automagically when you sign up for PayIt2. After you connect a bank account to Stripe, everything else is taken care of for you.

#4 Money is in your bank account

Now that you have the funds, it's time to use them. While organizing, use the Manage List to see who has paid and who hasn’t. Here you can also manage refunds, contact payers, and view payment information. This gives you all the information you need to give you peace of mind and make sure everything goes smoothly.
