Did you know that 71 percent of Manzano students are considered “at-risk” because their family income falls below the poverty line? We didn’t either. These students need our help. The explanation below the checkout button explains why.

Event Information

Yes, the houses we grew up in are still there, but many of the neighborhoods have deteriorated and are now filled with families who cannot ensure their teenagers are ready to learn when they arrive on MHS’s campus. At-risk students require on-going intervention to assure a positive transition to adulthood and once identified, these students are carefully tracked over the life of their attendance at MHS.

In addition to providing individualized services, MHS receives state and federal funding to help at-risk students meet ongoing basic needs, such as pay for temporary shelter and utilities, but the amount provided is never enough - funds run out before the school year ends, this year is no different!!

We want to help close the gap and hope you do, too. Please join us in this effort by making a donation to THE CLASS OF 1969 FUNDRAISING FOR AT-RISK MHS STUDENTS. Our goal is to raise $6900 before our reunion August 1. $6900 is an ambitious goal, but not impossible, especially for our class. A gift of just $19.69 can pay part of an overdue utility bill to the company threatening to cut off water or electricity or part of a hotel voucher for one night’s shelter for a student and family who otherwise would be homeless.

So far, $2,304 of our goal has been reached!

Rest assured all funds raised will be accounted for and used only to help identified “at-risk” MHS students.  Funds will be distributed to a 501(c)(3) organization set up for this purpose and as such, your donation is tax deductible.

You can make a donation by following the checkout prompts above. Thank you for your generosity. We look forward to seeing you at our 55th reunion in August.
