About the Fundraiser
A MOTHER'S APPEAL FOR OTIS
My name is Andrina Fennick, and I am the mother of Otis Junnior Blakes, a United States Marine Corps veteran and aspiring electrical engineer.
I am asking for your compassion and support as our family works to secure experienced appellate legal representation for my son.
WHO IS OTIS?
Otis served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He later attended Georgia State University's Perimeter College through the Regents' Engineering Pathway program, completing courses in calculus, physics, and computer programming. He was working toward his dream of becoming an electrical engineer.
My son is more than his conviction. He is a veteran, a student, a brother, and a deeply loved son whose life and aspirations still matter.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
In July 2025, a parking-related dispute involving a private vehicle-booting employee and Otis's brother escalated into a tragic confrontation. Otis has maintained that he acted because he believed his brother was in immediate danger.
Sadly, the incident resulted in the loss of a life. We acknowledge the seriousness of that loss and the pain experienced by everyone affected.
Otis was convicted of malice murder in DeKalb County, Georgia, in September 2026. A motion for a new trial was filed on October 1, 2026.
We are seeking an experienced Georgia criminal appellate attorney to independently review the trial, examine possible legal errors, and pursue any appropriate legal remedies.
OUR $30,000 FUNDRAISING GOAL
Donations will go toward retaining qualified appellate counsel, representation for the pending motion for a new trial, reviewing trial transcripts and evidence, court costs, and any subsequent appeal.
Our family has already made substantial financial sacrifices for Otis's previous legal representation. I am continuing to contribute what I can, but I cannot manage these additional expenses alone.
TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
I, Andrina Fennick, will organize and manage this fundraiser. I will maintain records of donations and legal expenditures and provide supporters with meaningful updates, including when appellate counsel is retained.
FROM A MOTHER'S HEART
I cannot promise a different legal outcome. I am simply asking for help securing experienced legal representation so my son's case can receive a thorough review.
Every donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to our family. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign would also be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and prayers.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Andrina Fennick
