In 2016 we had the first update to ICD-10-CM including 1943 new codes, 422 revised codes and 305 deleted codes. Experience the technical changes, documentation changes and efficiency changes that come with the new ICD-10 codes while ensuring you are proficient to code in ICD-10. You will walk away with in-depth working knowledge of ICD 10 coding, prepared for the ICD-10 certification test, and strategies for compliance with ICD-10.  To fully participate, participants should bring an ICD-10-CM coding manual.

We will apply the chapter specific guidelines in each applicable chapter and use lots of examples to increase your skills, proficiency, speed and accuracy in choosing the appropriate ICD-10 codes. Attendees will be able to demonstrate proficiency in complex coding scenarios and be ready to tackle home care and hospice charts back at the agency.  We’ll also apply OASIS C-1/ICD-10-CM coding data items and PPS changes to scenarios so that home health participants will understand payment implications and compliance issues; and explore issues with related/non-related diagnoses for hospice participants.  With government auditors targeting homecare and hospice, now is the time to ensure that you are coding correctly and protecting your revenue.

Demonstrate your competence in coding by taking the Home Care Coding Specialist-Diagnosis certification exam (optional). SHA and the Board of Medical Specialty Coding & Compliance have teamed together in order to provide attendees the opportunity to take the HCS-D ICD-10 Certification Exam. The workshop includes 2 days of coding training, with the opportunity to take the initial HCS-D ICD-10 Certification Exam on day 3. Exam participants must bring a current ICD-10-CM coding manual to the exam. (Electronic versions will not be allowed for the exam.)
