July 9: PDGM Seminar

Time: 8:30am - 5:00pm

PDGM: Hysterics of the year 2000 all over again!

The Patient Driven Grouper Model is the first major change to the home health payor system since 2000. We are moving away from therapy utilization driven payment to a payment largely driven by diagnoses codes. This course will provide an overview of the PDGM along with practical guidance and action items for readiness for January 1, 2020, including improving agency efficiencies to decrease days to RAP, investigating agency LUPAs and correcting as necessary, raising the level of quality and accuracy of your diagnosis coding and more..

1. Identify the major aspects of PDGM
2. Explain community vs institutional as a component of PDGM.
3. Explain operational changes necessary for 30 day payment periods.
4. Explain Low Utilization Payment Adjustments (LUPAs) and their impact on payment.
5. Explain the role of the primary diagnosis and other diagnoses in PDGM.
6. Explain the functional component of the billing code derived from OASIS items.
7. Explain the significance of the changes to OASIS known as OASIS D1.

July 10-11 OASIS D: Define, Detail Discover

Time: 8:30 am-4:30 pm Both days

This is a full OASIS conference

July 12: Optional HCS-O certification exam (Separate registration required)

This is a comprehensive 2-day view of the current OASIS, including a solid discussion of the current OASIS D items. A comparison of the M1800 ADL/IADL items and the new GG items is essential to achieve accuracy for future outcomes and payment. Subtle wording changes in the guidance and the expansion of the one clinician rule will be discussed with options explored. Your questions regarding new pressure ulcer/injury items and guidance will be answered. Don’t forget your Star rating! We will also review the latest guidance on current OASIS items used to calculate your Quality of Care Star rating. Proposed changes to OASIS known as OASIS D1 will also be explored.

OASIS D was implemented at the beginning of the year so changes will be covered in detail, but this is a FULL OASIS class so whether you are new to OASIS, or need a good full overview of the changes and a refresher of all the items either way this class is for you!
