Event Information

How can a person’s age, race, education, the gender they present and other characteristics influence how we treat them – even when we intend to be unbiased? The reality is that we all have implicit bias. Our brains naturally perceive, categorize, and draw conclusions that unconsciously inform our behaviors. The good news is that there are practical strategies we can employ to disrupt and reduce implicit bias.

Understanding what implicit bias is and how it impacts our decisions is key to fostering more inclusive and intercultural workplaces, practices and leadership. In this session we will utilize the Harvard Implicit Association Tests, group activities and practice strategies to identify, disrupt and reduce implicit bias. This workshop may be of particular interest to individuals seeking to improve their professional leadership and effectiveness.

Workshop Preparation:
Registered participants will receive instructions to complete the on-line Harvard Implicit Association Tool (IAT).

Workshop Presenter:
Sonya Hughes, CCDP
Principal, Inclusive Outcomes LLC
